Any superstitions?
Not superstitious although I always shower before a round, and I always say Bismillah before the first hit.
Playing off a handicap of 18 (debatable), he’s scored sub-handicap rounds of 82 and 84 this year. He won the DRM March Monthly Medal with a gross score of 85, 4-under his handicap!
Are you a buaya?

CLUB SPOTLIGHT
Virtually playing as a professional off a handicap of 0, perennial DRM high-flyer Lai has recorded his best Gross score of the year of 71 in Panaga Golf Course. The Prodigy actually didn’t know what clubs he was using until he was interviewed for this article. I guess it’s true what they say, it’s not about the club; it’s all about the player!
When interviewed if he had any superstitions whilst playing the beautiful game, his response was, “I never let my woods cover drop to the ground. It means a bad tee shot is coming!”
I guess we all know what to do to psych him out now the next time we get paired with him!

DRM RBA Monthly Medal: March 2013 Results and Report
The first DRM Golf tournament of 2013 went underway at RBA Golf Course on March 2nd, 2013. With a strong field of 33 players, comprising of former DRM Tour winners as well as first time Tour players, who will stake the claim to be the first winner of the year, and most importantly, bragging rights??
It was a great turnout and the Tour has been encouraged so far by the participation of DRMers and look forward to seeing these familiar faces (and more!) in the upcoming tournaments.
Fresh from his exploits of playing with the country’s best professional and amateur players in the BDGA Tournament in Pantai Mentiri recently, Lai Suan Loong carried his rich vein of form and was crowned champion of the Gross Category with a score of 80 (He wasn't happy with his score!). Returning DRM veteran “Gold Tee” Kamal Bahrom gave Lai a run for his money and nearly toppled the young Brunei amateur off the top of the list, but had to settle for runner-up with a score of 81. His long bombs off the tee into the fairway are reminiscent of his former glory days as a DRMer. Our bet is that he will carry his fine form into future tournaments, so watch out!
In the nett category, with a score of 4-under 67, Haji Jaafar ran away with the Overall Nett Winner’s trophy. This, despite suffering an injury to the middle finger of his left hand. The cause of the injury is yet to be determined, but does make for interesting debate at the coincidental finger location! =p Playing off a handicap of 18, calls for “CHOP” were heard among the gallery when he received his prize! The DRM Tour committee and players alike look forward to see Haji Jaafar’s performance for the rest of the tour. Will he be a frontrunner to guarantee automatic qualification for the end of year BOTB? We shall see! 1st and 2nd Runner-ups were awarded to Pg Suffri and Haji Manan respectively. Shooting a 2-under 69, Pg Suffri edged Haji Manan on OCB. 4th-Place was up for grabs by three golfers, namely Saney Halim, Captain Z and Haji Sufri. Based on OCB, after shooting a 1-over 72, Saney Halim was determined the occupant of the 4th position. Birthday boy Haji Sufri who was kind enough to sponsor the novelty Nearest to Pin prizes would’ve rounded off a very successful flight, making it a clean sweep of winners with Haji Jaafar, Pg Suffri and Haji Manan winning, had he claimed the 5th and final prize position, but was edged out by Captain Z on OCB, amidst calls of “croc” from the gallery (led by former captain Haji Rahim!)
Despite there being 4 NTP prizes on offer, only two were won with Lai Suan Loong winning one and Juswira Momin winning the other.
And finally the prize for being the most active golfer, making the most of the wonderful weather on offer that day, claimant to the prize was the golfer formerly known as Pg. Woody, the "9-Iron Man" Pg Shamhary. Pg Shamhary more than happily and cheekily obliged to claim the wooden spoon prize in the form of a Callaway Ball retriever sponsored by Lai. Perhaps we shouldn’t mention if there would be a prize for wooden spoon in the future? Hrmmm…
Congratulations again to all the winners and to those who came close, there’s always the next tournament, and we look forward to welcoming new challengers to the trophy and bragging rights for the race to the BOTB!
